Tall stems bending in the coastal wind. Warm ochres, soft browns, pale creams and deep blues — built up in loose, energetic layers that capture not just the look of the landscape but the feeling of standing inside it.
Kirsteen painted this work from direct observation of Scotland's wild coastal edges — the kind of place where land, water and sky stop being separate things. The seed heads and grasses are rendered with a lightness that suggests movement even in a still room.
